Closet Turned Office?

28 Apr

I recently bought a $8 dresser at the Goodwill. I am going to paint it white and stick it in the spare bedroom to create a makeshift work area. Though I would love a home office, I do not want to devote an entire room to one. I was searching for ideas and found one that I am so inspired by: closet offices. Basically you stick your desk in a closet and ta-da: instant office! Yes, I know it sounds insane but check out these photos.

We already have the empty closet which is pretty huge and would easily accommodate all of my office related needs. I’ve bought a desk…. so really I just need to get a shelf and a few organizers. So, here is another thing to add to the to-do list.

Christmas Lights

13 Dec

We opted to skip the tree this year since we will be in New York for the holidays, but still caved in with the outdoor lights.  Happy Holidays!

Just Because….

I cannot get over how AMAZING this will look in our dining room. I will convince Zack that our dining set can be made over easily, like the picture below. Making the storage daybed/bench will be a challenge though.

Pottery Barn Outlet

30 Nov

On the way home from my Dad’s house, Zack and I stopped by the Pottery Barn Outlet in Lake Elsinore. I have been wanting to go FOREVER and Zack finally agreed. There were so many things I loved and so many creative ideas, not to mention the amazing deals. Believe it or not, I did not purchase anything but Zack did!  Here is what he picked out.

Bulldog Bottle Opener

Silver Lantern

He loved the silver lantern and hung it on our porch as soon as we got home. I gotta admit, I do love it! He is really into gas lanterns and lampposts right now…what I call French Cottage inspired decor. Pretty good taste is you ask me. Way to go Hubby!

While there, I fell in love with these setups.

Kitchen Nook

Outdoor Entry Wonderland

These two images are going into my inspiration folder!

That’s all for now =D

Obsession

19 Nov

Have you ever visited Ana-White.com? If not, you must go check it out. Ana provides plants to build your own furniture on the cheap. Most plans are modeled after pricey stores like Pottery Barn , West Elm, and Z Gallerie, but 90% cheaper.  There are a few things that I really want to build, but I am not sure if I can tackle them on my own.

Laundry Basket Tower

How smart is this? We have a big problem with laundry laying all over the place because Zack prefers to through his clothes on the floor still, lol. This thing costs $10 bucks to make and I am pretty sure I can get him to throw is stuff in it.

Desk

I really love the clean and simple lines of this West Elm inspired desk. I could see myself working at this baby easily.

Rolling storage bench

I love this rolling storage bench. I see a mini mud room  setup in my future. At $50 bucks to build instead of the $900 that Pottery Barn version charges….yes please!

Storage Daybed

I love how much space this storage daybed saves. Pushed against a wall with a few pillows for back support and this  could double as a couch in our den while providing additional space for guests.

Well,  those are my fave ideas for now.  If only I could convince the hubby to help me because frankly I am afraid that I will cut my fingers off. =)

I will regret this…

Here is a picture of my messy kitchen… I figured I should post at least one new picture, even if the place is not perfect. Don’t judge me!

Hello Sunshine!

27 Oct

Today the sun finally decided to show up in San Diego after a few weeks of Fall weather. It is just so gorgeous out that I want to lounge by the pool. Of course, that got me dreaming about how I would transform our backyard, so I decided to post some pictures of different things I love.

What’s not to love about this? I am really digging the idea of an outdoor fireplace ( Zack’s idea). I love how the arbor surrounds this area and makes it feel like a room. I really like the vines and flowers growing along the top, though I would pick jasmine to perfume the air.

Another take on the outdoor fireplace and arbor. I like this picture because it shows a similar layout of what we have now. Zack is talking about eliminating some of the palm trees and breaking up the dirt area with a concrete. This would be a good spot for the fireplace and arbor plus a few chaises for lounging around.

Chesapeake Sectional

Do you even need to ask why I posted this picture?  I LOVE yellow and green together…. actually I am bit obsessed with that color combo . I love the huge shade tree and the hanging lanterns are stunning! It looks so cozy!

That’s all for now. I will get new pictures of the house up soon but I have not been able to find my camera. =(

Sweet Dreams

19 Oct

I’m back today with another room inspiration board. For our bedroom, I think a calming blue and tan scheme is just pure bliss! There is just something about these colors that make me think sweet dreams and peaceful sleep. Best part of this whole plan? The most expensive thing on this list is the comforter set ($100 bucks). In fact, everything you see would come in at around $302 . I definitely see this bedroom in my future!

Spooktacular Deals

5 Oct

I know, a cheesy title. I couldn’t help my self =)

We are gearing up for Halloween around the Cheshire household. Yesterday, I went to the  99 cent store to check out what goodies they had. I was pleasantly surprised. Here are a couple of adorable things I picked up. Not bad for $.99. I also got a candy bowl, a black skull, a mini gravestone, spider webs, and hanging bat and pumpkins decorations. I can’t wait to find a spot for everything. We are not going to do too much decorating  inside, but I plan to make the porch and walkway look good for all of our trick or treaters. I am not sure how the neighborhood kiddie traffic is, but I hope it is worth it.

Nooks & Crannies

30 Sep

We never eat at the dinner table. Why? Good question. I personally believe it is because our dining area is pretty blah.( Sorry about the horrible picture, but I took it at night and on my phone )

I just had an epiphany! Why not turn our small dining area into a breakfast nook? How cute would that be? I’ve found some inspirational pictures around the web and think this will work out perfectly in our small space.

This could be a very cheap and easy DIY project for us since my hubby is such a handy man ;).  We have this long bench type table that I was actually going to donate to the Goodwill  that could be used as a base . I am super excited about this idea! The first picture is probably the closest to how I imagine our’s will turn out.

I guess I better add this to the never-ending list of things to do. =D
